Jiu Jitsu is a Japanese martial art developed by the samurai warriors over centuries of battle.
Today we use it as a method of self-defence that allows smaller people to use practical techniques to defend against larger and stronger attackers.
Anyone can learn Jiu Jitsu no matter what size, shape, age, or gender.
The lessons are taught in a friendly atmosphere with the goal that after every session you’ll leave better able to defend yourself and having had a great workout and fun time.

Even though the club itself is still only a few years old, it contains the enormous knowledge, culture of respect, inclusivity and endurance I would expect from a much wider community. With us, you can expect to train hard to your own personal goals, gain a solid grounding in self-defence and hopefully enjoy our socials. "I've been training in this style for about 7-8 years now and I absolutely love it. I started as a way to build self confidence and it's helped me achieve that and then some. If you're interested in learning new skills and getting a good workout at the same time then I would highly recommend joining. The dojo itself is roughly 2 years old and it's been a privilege to watch it grow since it started. The instructors are very friendly and patient, as are the other members there. The sessions are accommodating for any level of experience, so it doesn't matter if you are a total beginner or have had prior experience. it's fantastic. 🙂"

"I thoroughly enjoy training this style of ju-jitsu (SMR) and find the sessions to be a great work out, fun and focused. With SMR, we focus on quite varied self-defence techniques. Sensei Luke is experienced, approachable and is always strives to get the best from his students and keeps things interesting by incorporating ground work as well as weapons training. Not only are the sessions very affordable, you can tell that Sensei Luke and Sensei Healey (who often supports the classes) really care about our progression and teach with enthusiasm. The club offers many opportunities for additional sessions, socials and even a summer camp. The group I train with are a friendly bunch and we look after each other. Ju-jitsu has helped calm my mind and I always feel much better after a session, physically and mentally. I highly recommend taking advantage of the first couple of free sessions and giving it a try!
